Narendra Modi launched Solar Power Plant in Madhya Pradesh

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today while throwing open Welspun Solar Plant in Neemuch of Maharashtra said that India should become self-reliant in the field of energy keeping in mind the demand of the time. He was of the view of that when it comes to development; the maximum use of natural resources of energy is the best way.

On this occasion along with the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Shivrajsinh Chauhan, all the dignitaries were present.

The welspun energy company has set up 151 megavolts’ solar power plant covering up 800 acres. This mega solar plant was started off eight months earlier than its presumed time at the cost of Rs. 855 crores. With the help of this plant, about 6, 24,000 houses will avail the energy. The welspun company also has it’s one of the industrial units in Kutch of Gujarat.

Facilitating Shri Shivrajsinh as a chief minister with full of energy and dynamism Mr. Modi said that Madhya Pradesh has given a completely new visage of electrical energy to the nation by establishing such a huge solar plant. He also extended his felicitations to the Welspun Company for its value contribution in the field of energy.

In his address Mr. Modi reiterated that BJP is the government which does understand the voices of the people. “(Power to empower people), for us power is the medium of common man’s empowerment, and their total power is the way to extirpate corruption, (absolute power for absolute corruption),” he said. According to him India can show her strength at unconventional energy sectors by producing energy using the natural resources but the UPA government has always been despondent over it and rather favored corruption.

Mr. Modi expressed his concerns saying that although our country is full of natural resources, get-up-and-go youth power and dynamic societies, it has gone down since a last decade. “even though there are warehouses, people strive. The electricity factories of the nation have the production capacity of 20,000 megavolts, yet due to the lacking of coals enough energy is not produced leaving thousands of people in darkness; however the UPA government has caused huge coal corruption.

He said that the rupee is going down unprecedentedly against dollar, causing the danger of current account deficit because of the adoption of coal importing policies that has increased huge load on national economy.
Referring the mistakes of India’s policy makers, Mr. Modi said that after freedom of the nation, the congress governments never did think over the visionary to install hydro power on the rivers that emerge from the Himalayas and to install the wind power at the sea-shore and also to develop natural resources of solar energy on the open lands.

There are green, white and saffron colours in our national flag and the green is for revolution in agriculture, white revolution (milk) and now that the saffron energy revolution is on the go.

Mr. Modi gave a vision of the seven-energy chariots to directing self-reliance in energy sector that include gas, thermal, hydro, solar, wind, bio-mass and nuclear energy.

Mr. Modi said that we could produce electricity from every possible areas by utilizing bio-mass energy. India could have emerged as the biggest power in the energy sector, but the present national leaders of Delhi don’t’ have the vision of complete future planning of the nation. According to him development is the only solution of all the problems and all the governments of BJP is on the go to meeting the expectations of the people so as to transforming the lives of the common man.

BJP plans to abolish Income and Service Taxes

If voted to power, may also do away with Service Tax to woo middle class
The abolition of Income Tax and Service Tax may figure prominently on the agenda of the BJP for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The party feels that this could be a major step to woo the middle class — its traditional support base — which deserted it last time in 2009 and voted for the Congress.

At a meeting here on Thursday to finalise its blueprint for major structural changes in the taxation regime, the party leaders agreed to do away with Income Tax and Service Tax. The decision would form part of the BJP’s Vision Document-2025, which is under preparation and is scheduled to be released before the Lok Sabha elections.

According to the Finance Minister’s Budget proposals for 2013-14, Income Tax is expected to be over Rs 2.47 lakh crore while Service Tax is estimated to be over 1.80 lakh crore.
Tax on income is the levy on the income of individuals, firms etc, other than companies. This head also includes other taxes, like education cess, surcharge and Securities Transaction Tax, which is levied on transaction in listed securities undertaken on stock exchanges and in units of mutual funds.

The party also plans to implement radical changes in “petro-economics” bringing taxation on petroleum products in India at par with international standards.

The BJP leaders claim once this is done, petrol and diesel prices in India would come down drastically. “The Vision Document committee felt that petroleum products were highly taxed in India and there was a need to rationalise this. There was a possibility that we could bring petrol prices in India in the range of Rs 40-50 per litre,” senior leaders claimed.

The proposal to abolish these two taxes was discussed at a meeting of top BJP leaders here at the residence of LK Advani. Leaders of Opposition Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, party president Rajnath Singh, former chief Nitin Gadkari, former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha and senior leader Subramanian Swamy were present in the meeting.

“This has approval of prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. The matter was brought to his notice a couple of days ago and he has given the go ahead,” a top BJP leader told The Pioneer.

A Pune-based institute is said to have done the study and recommended abolishing these taxes to the party’s vision document committee. While Gadkari heads the committee, Swamy is the convener of the panel.

The panel has pointed out that there were 15 other countries in the world, which do not impose taxes on income of individuals. It has cited certain studies, which show that among 180 countries, India is ranked at 138 in terms of tax administration.

There were certain apprehensions in the BJP camp about the “financial impact” of abolishing these taxes, but a consensus has been arrived at that it could be minimized by taking steps that would not pinch the aam aadmi much.

Party leaders feel a certain amount of the total loss on account of abolishing these taxes could be recovered through banking transaction taxes and a radical reform in the taxation regime. They feel, this step alone could mop up nearly Rs 40,000-crore.

The vision document of the party would suggest reforms in revenue collection methods by plugging leakages. It would also suggest more collection under heads like excise taxes.
The party is also mulling a series of reforms, if voted to power, in revenue collection and management of natural resources to mop up additional funds.

Panacea for tax woes

Congress hired PR Companies to boost the images of Congress and Rahul Gandhi

In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections due in April-May, Dentsu India, the Japanese advertising and public relations company, is preparing a massive campaign around the concept of “empowering the common man”, which will focus on portraying Gandhi as a young, vibrant leader who will deliver on the aspirations of the common Indian.

And Burson-Marsteller, a public relations firm, has been hired by the Congress to create a buzz around Gandhi on social media.

Gandhi, who took the final decision to go ahead with Dentsu India (and JWT) to handle the Congress party’s Rs. 500-crore advertising contract for the elections, is taking a personal interest in the campaign’s design.

“A team of select professionals is working on the project and Rahul Gandhi is closely involved with the creation of the short films and print ads based on him,” said a Dentsu executive on condition of anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

Officially, Dentsu remained tight-lipped about the contract. “We just cannot comment on this subject,” said Rohit Ohri, executive chairman, Dentsu India.

Burson-Marsteller, which has been hired by the Congress to revamp Gandhi’s image, is likely to handle Gandhi’s Twitter account and Facebook page. It will upload pictures of his rallies, update status messages to create interesting debates and tweet on daily developments to ensure greater visibility on social media.

“We confirm that Burson-Marsteller has been engaged to provide counsel to senior leaders of the Congress Party as part of an exercise that also involves other communications and research companies,” said Prema Sagar, founder, Genesis Burson-Marsteller, India.

Kerala Churches Praises Narendra Modi

The head of a prominent Christian denomination in Kerala gave a thumbs-up to Narendra Modi yesterday, becoming the second Church leader in the state to laud the BJP prime ministerial candidate in a week.

Thomas Mar Timotheos, head of the Jacobite Syrian Church, told reporters after a meeting with BJP national secretary P.K. Krishnadas that followers of the Jacobite Church in Kerala or Gujarat did not have any problems with Modi.

“Followers of the Jacobite faction in Kerala do not have any problems with Modi. We also have believers in Gujarat. They too don’t have any difficulties with Modi. In fact, they applaud his developmental efforts,’’ the priest said.

Thomas Mar Timotheos

Krishnadas told The Telegraph that he and a group of district BJP leaders had visited the headquarters of the Church in Kottayam district to attend a New Year event.
“After the event, we spoke to him (Timotheos) for a while. In the course of the conversation, he said that the country was passing through a very difficult stage and that the need of the hour was a stable government and a strong, non-corrupt leader.’’

A week earlier, the head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church had praised Modi’s development programmes and indicated the BJP leader was welcome as Prime Minister provided he was “tolerant’’ in his approach to religions.

Baselios MarThoma Poulose II

“There is a general perception that he (Modi) is not a tolerant person. I never had a chance to know him personally,” Catholicos Baselios MarThoma Poulose II had said.
“But members of our community in Gujarat say he has taken a very helpful stand in (relation to) their businesses, enabling them to pursue their trade without being caught in any red tape.”

The Orthodox and Jacobite sects have been at loggerheads for many decades over the administrative rights of certain Churches.
